The highest point in Massachusetts, the peak of Mount Greylock
tops off at 3.491 feet. Now a state reservation, it is comprised of
12,000 acres of protected land hosting spectacular views, remote
boggy areas, alpine and boreal forests and more than 40 acre plant
species. Mount Greylock has been incorporated into
American literature through the writings of Herman Melville,
Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry David Thoreau. Today , the mountain
offers many activities to al visitors and in October (Columbus Day
weekend) they have the annual Ramble - climb to the top and get a
certificate and enjoy the fun.
There is the historic Bascom Lodge a top the mountain. Enjoy a
360 degree, 100 mile view, access to 70 hiking trails ,
including The Appalachian Trail. You can spend the night at the
Lodge.

accessible by car, is the Prospect House/Summit House, a former
hotel. The view of the Connecticut RIver is spectacular.
